Jesinta placed as the 2nd runner-up at the Miss Universe 2010 pageant, only behind the eventual winner, Mexico's Ximena Navarrete, and the 1st runner-up Yendi Phillipps from Jamaica. Jesinta Campbell was crowned Miss Universe Australia 2010 after winning the pageant on June 17th 2010.
Jesinta is known for her down to earth charm and friendly personality. She is the quintessential Aussie beach girl growing up on the Gold Coast. She won a youth achievement award in 2008 for organising her own charity event “Walk for Water”, raising funds for a water stricken community.
After winning the runway section in a modelling competition in her final year of school, Jesinta deferred her Scholarship. Leaving home for Sydney she took the big leap into modelling at 17 years of age. Months later she was modelling in Shanghai on a two- month contract. Returning to Australia she continued to model throughout 2009. Her love for charities, public speaking and working with people sparked her interest to enter Miss Universe Australia 2010, she says “it was a great pathway for me to achieve my dreams.”
After winning Jesinta said she felt very honoured and privileged to be an ambassador for Australia. “I love my country and I am proud of being Australian. I encourage people to go after their dreams and I am living proof that if you set a goal, you can achieve it through hard work, determination and belief in yourself.”
Jesinta lives by the motto "There is no passion to be found in playing small...in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of." - Nelson Mandela. Since returning from Las Vegas Jesinta has been on a whirlwind ride, she has been travelling the country in fulfilling her official role as Miss Universe Australia.
