LEWIS HAMILTON reckons Fernando Alonso has proved he is tough enough to be world champ again - by having his legs WAXED!
The Ferrari ace stunned rivals by his appearance at the Yas Marina track.
Hamilton, 25, admitted: "I'm surprised how he was able to take the pain.
"We noticed as we were walking in, Mark Webber was asking how far has it gone up.
"I was like 'Wow, they are shiny.' I'm impressed he can do that - that shows his mental state.
"But I think he has shown over the years how solid he is mentally. You ask him questions about Germany and he just doesn't care."
Alonso gained seven points on his rivals after Ferrari cheated and ordered Felipe Massa to hand him victory at Hockenheim earlier this season.
And the defiant Spaniard dismissed claims he will be a tainted champion if he claims his third drivers' crown on Sunday - but finishes fewer than seven points ahead of the rest.
Alonso, 29, said: "I think winning by seven, or one or 25 points is a less important thing in my mind right now. People who do not understand F1 forget that it is about the team."
Alonso goes into the desert showdown leading Webber by eight points with Webber's Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel seven points further back.
The two-time champ will clinch the title in his first season with Ferrari if he finishes in the top two - whatever his rivals do.
Alonso knows that Red Bull could use team orders to stop him winning the title.
And Vettel has given the broadest hint he will move over for Webber if his own title hopes are over.
The German, 23, said: "If the situation occurs, we know we are driving for the team."
