Kimi Räikkönen drove a steady race with patience in Rally Turkey which brought him a fifth place finish. It's the best achievement in Räikkönen's short rally career.
The car stalled a couple of times but the Citroen junior team driver avoided big problems on roads that were fast and at times slippery and in bad shape.
The finishing position was also made better by Dani Sordo driving off the road and Jari-Matti Latvala's problems.
-Driving to into the top five in a WRC rally with that rally experience is a great achievement from Kimi. I don't think that you can find other performances like that, said Latvala.
Räikkönen was also pleased.
-The last stretch was really difficult. Some places were as slippery as ice. I drove safely so that I wouldn't make a mistake in the end of such a good race, thought Räikkönen.
-Now I'm starting to get the feel for the car and for driving to pace notes.
Räikkönen is now facing a short brake in racing. He'll be back in the WRC series only at the end of May in Rally Portugal. He'll miss Rally New Zealand which is driven in the beginning of May.
-But I'm supposed to be driving tests in between, told Räikkönen.
